The 4th Generation of the Pokemon franchise introduced Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl (as known as Pokemon D/P). It was soon followed up by Pokemon Battle Revolution, a console support title that allowed players to copy their handheld critters over to the big screen to fight in flashy high definition 3-D.

Pokemon Battle Revolution, created solely for the Nintendo Wii, was developed by Genius Sonority and published by Nintendo. It was released on June 25th, 2007 in North America and Decemeber 14th, 2006 in Japan. The game's loose storyline revolves around you, a new trainer to the battle happy island of Poketopia, who wishes to become the champ by battling your way through several types of Colosseums. Each of these Colosseums have their own rules, regulations, and tough leaders that will try to impede you on your way to your goal.

While the game disappointed many fans for its lack of traditional "Stadium" features, such as mini-games or an RPG mode, Pokmon Battle Revolution did add many new advances in gameplay and unique features. Pokemon Battle Revolution was one of the first Wii games to connect to Wi-Fi for online battles, and was the first game to show the impressive ability to communicate between the Wii and the Nintendo DS.

Items and Special Pokemon could be bought in the PBR Shop with Poke Coupons that were gained by battling the various trainers in Poketopia, to send to your Pokemon DIamond or Pearl Game Catridiges. In turn the Pokemon from these handheld games could be copied over to PBR to enable them to fight it out on your television screen. Trainer Customization was also a big part of Pokemon Battle Revolution, allowing players to pick their trainer avatar using a variety of different body sizes, colors, and attire.
