RBY Elite Four

At the very end of a Pokemon trainer's journey is the toughest challenge of them all: The Elite Four. These four trainers wait in Indigo Plateau, testing challengers with the eight gym leaders before they are even allowed to challenge these top notch trainers. Each Elite Four member has there own favorite type, although its not followed as strictly as the gym leaders. Click on any of the pokemon images to be taken to that Pokemon's Auroradex page. More detailed battle strategies can be found in the Pokemon Red and Blue Walkthrough.

Elite Four #1 – Lorelei

#087 Dewgong #091 Cloyster #080 Slowbro #124 Jynx #131 Lapras
Lv. 54 Lv. 53 Lv. 54 Lv. 56 Lv. 56

Lorelei is the first of the Elite Four, and very well be one of the hardest. Her signature type is Ice, allow due to the common Water/Ice typing, rock and fire pokemon are pretty much rendered useless. Use strong fighting types for her Dewgong and Lapras, and use an electric type for Jynx (since it has Psychic) and for Slowbro and Cloyster who have high Defense.

Elite Four #2 – Bruno

#095 Onix #107 Hitmonchan #106 Hitmonlee #095 Onix #068 Machamp
Lv. 53 Lv. 55 Lv. 55 Lv. 56 Lv. 58

Bruno, the second of the Elite Four, is a fighting type Pokemon trainer. Despite being the second member, he is often considered to be the easiest. A strong Pyshic type like Alakazam can wipe out his entire team (the 3 fighters are weak against Psychic and the two Onix have low Special). If you don't wanna take any risks just use your resident Water types to take out his two Onix.

Elite Four #3 – Agatha

#094 Gengar #042 Golbat #093 Haunter #024 Arbok #094 Gengar
Lv. 56 Lv. 56 Lv. 55 Lv. 56 Lv. 60

The third member of the Elite Four is Agatha. While she is supposed to be the Ghost type enthusiast, she might just as well be a Poison type trainer. If you brought along a psychic type for Bruno, it'll work wonders here too. Due to the type glitch in Pokemon Red and Blue, Psychic types are immune to ghost type attacks. Therefore, Psychic attacks are super effective against all 5 of her Pokemon. Despite her strong Pokemon, she will often waste turns using moves like Dream Eater on awake Pokemon.

Elite Four #4 – Lance

#130 Gyarados #148 Dragonair #148 Dragonair #142 Aerodactyl #149 Dragonite
Lv. 58 Lv. 56 Lv. 56 Lv. 60 Lv. 62

Odds are that the last Elite Four member, Lance, will be your first true encounter with Dragon type Pokemon. If you have an ice type Pokemon (or a water type with an ice attack) your in the money. The water type would also be handy to quickly surf his Aerodactyl out of the way. If you have an electric type that you used against Lorelei, make sure its at the top of your party to take out Gyrados swiftly.
